Wesley (Wes) Norwood Sparkman was born in Chicago, later attended Proviso West High School, and moved to Wisconsin in 1991 to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Wes Sparkman has almost 20 years of experience in the fields of Equal Employment Opportunity, Contract Compliance, and Public Administration for Dane County Wisconsin.

Wes is a past President of the City of Madison Police and Fire Commission, a past member of the Board of Directors for the Madison Children’s Museum, African American Ethnic Academy, and Access to Independence. He has been recognized by the Department of Work Force Development and the Dane County Private Industry Council. Wes is a volunteer for the School Makes A Difference Program, Read Your Heart Out Day, and a former youth sports coach for baseball and football. Wesley is member of Fountain of Life Church in Madison Wisconsin where he serves as bible study teacher for 4th and 5th graders and his hobbies include music and sports.

Wes is a current member of the Board of Directors for SSM Health WI. He serves as a Madison Rotary Foundation Trustee and Past President of the Rotary Club of Madison. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Dane County. Wes is an active member of the Madison Network of Black Professionals and past Chairperson of the Dane County Business Opportunity Forum. In 2016 Wes was named as one of the 44 most influential African Americans in Wisconsin by Madison365.

Wes received his B.A. degree in sociology from the UW-Madison and a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Robert M. LaFollette School of Public Affairs. He is married to Catrina Sparkman and has four children
